Ironwood Strength

Men 40+ · private studio

Strong at 45.
Stronger at 55.

The barbell does not care that you sit at a desk. We do. Private, one-to-one strength coaching in a studio with no mirrors, no music shouting at you, and no twenty-year-olds filming themselves — just you, a coach with twenty years of experience, and a program written for your shoulders, your hips, and your calendar.

Why strength now

The strongest men over fifty all started the same way: gradually

Somewhere after forty, most men quietly stop lifting — a shoulder here, a busy quarter there. The loss is silent: three pounds of muscle a year, stairs that got opinions, a doctor mentioning bone density in a tone you did not enjoy. The fix is not a bootcamp. It is a barbell, a plan, and someone who knows what a fifty-year-old shoulder can and cannot do this month.

Our clients are executives, contractors, fathers, and grandfathers who decided the strongest decade should be the next one. They train once or twice a week in a private studio, follow a program built around their injuries, and get objectively stronger every quarter — measured, printed, and celebrated.

The coaches

Two coaches, forty combined years

Owner, CSCS

Marcus Delacroix

Twenty-two years coaching, CSCS since 2008. Trained everyone from NFL offseason athletes to a 78-year-old farmer who deadlifted his bodyweight at 74. Runs the assessment personally: your first hour is his, always.

Coach, CSCS

Ray Okonkwo

Former college strength coach; the technician. If your squat hurts, Ray finds the reason in one session. Specializes in shoulders that have stories and hips that have opinions.

Plans

Four ways to get under the bar

01

The First Assessment

Everyone starts

Movement screen, injury history, goal conversation, and two lifts on the bar. You leave with a written snapshot — strength, mobility, and a plan — whether you join or not.

Free 90 minutes

02

Single Sessions

Try the water

One private hour with your coach. Most clients start here and convert within a month.

$95 per session

03

The 12-Week Rebuild

Most chosen

Two sessions a week for twelve weeks, programming for the days between, and quarterly testing. The standard course: add 40-80 lbs to your main lifts, stairs lose their opinions.

$1,080 12 weeks

04

The Annual Strength Plan

The full year

Fifty-two programmed weeks, 2-3 studio sessions a week, nutrition targets without the religion, and a coach who notices when you skip. For men who want the strongest decade, not the strongest quarter.

$5,200 12 months

All prices USD. HSA/FSA receipts provided on request. Men on TRT or cardiac medication train with physician clearance we request directly, with your permission. The studio is on the ground floor — no stairs required, an actual amenity our clients mention weekly.

Client stories

What our clients say

"Fifty-one, CEO, bad shoulder, worse schedule. Marcus rebuilt the shoulder first, then the squat. Eighteen months later I deadlifted 375 at a bodyweight of 190. My cardiologist asked for the coach's card."

David R. · 51, CEO (Brentwood)

"The assessment alone was worth more than the three years of gym apps before it. They found why my knee hurt in week one; the apps never asked. Ninety dollars a session sounds expensive until you stop wasting forty a month on a membership you fear."

Tom W. · 47, project manager (Franklin)

"I came to carry my grandkids up the stairs without thinking. That took four months. I stayed because turning 60 while getting stronger is a plot twist I intend to keep writing."

Walt H. · 59, retired teacher (Nashville)

Frequently asked questions

Perfect — the First Assessment is built for you. We start with the bar, sometimes just the movements, and the program is written for what your body remembers and what it has forgotten. "Out of shape" is a starting point, not a verdict.
That is our specialty. Ray diagnoses movement patterns in the first session, and we either train around the issue or, when needed, ask your physical therapist to co-author the first block. Old injuries are biographies, not disqualifications.
We train you with physician clearance we request directly (with your written permission). Several of our strongest clients train on cardiac medication; the program simply respects the numbers your doctor cares about.
Stronger than you were at 35, in most cases. Novice-to-intermediate men 45-65 typically add 40-100 lbs to their squat and deadlift in the first year of structured training. The research is unambiguous and our testing sheets agree.
No — most clients train two. One well-programmed session a week still beats the gym app you are afraid to open. The Annual Plan works at 2-3; the Rebuild at 2.
One client, one coach, one room. No mirrors, no lines, no one watching. There is a changing area, good coffee, and a door that locks. Your session is yours.
